Well, I actually don't have to hope. I get to go to the Paraguay, Asuncion mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 2 years to serve the people who live there. I will have the opportunity to preach the gospel while I am there and also to just generally serve them to benefit their lives. I am really excited to go. I'll miss my friends and family, but I am sure the Lord will bless them as I serve Him in what He has called me to do.
Mike and I just had a farewell/open house "party" where we got to see some good friends that we haven't been able to see in a long time. It was great to catch up and chat!!
As I leave, I am going to have to remember the lessons I've learned throughout my life, most in particular this past semester of college as I had the opportunity to take both a 'Missionary Preparation' class and a Book of Mormon class. Both of my professors had excellent advice, lessons and teachings to live and learn by.
This past year I have grown so much - yet I still see all of my imperfections and weaknesses that I need to improve on. I've learned that this is a life journey that I need to always strive to do, and I know that my mission will help me to mature and be able to better improve my life and the lives of those around me.
I am so grateful for those who have been my friends. They have shown me love and support that I probably never thanked them enough for. Friendship is one aspect of my character that I need to work on and improve upon.
Most of all, I am grateful for my family. Without them, I could not be where I am at today. Without their love and care, I would not have been able to learn the valuable traits and characteristics I will need in order to be a successful servant of the Lord.
This a tome I've written, but there's so much more I still could say. Unfortunately, that will probably not be until I get back and will most likely be in Spanish.
Adios, mis amigos! Adios!
